Born and raised in Las Vegas, Joya Cortez Chahine has spent her career fighting for Nevada's working families. She made history by becoming the first woman from Nevada and the first Latina ever elected to the United States Senate. As Attorney General, Cortex Chahine led to break up sex trafficking rings throughout the state. She also created a senior protection unit to safeguard older Nevadans from identity theft, exploitation, and abuse. Senator Cortez Chahine remains a strong advocate for women and children is working to pass legislation to strengthen women's health care.
As an avid hiker and nature lover, Cortez Chahine is committed to protecting our environment and public lands for future generations to enjoy. Senator Cortez Chahine is working to repair our broken immigration system and protect hardworking families. Joya Chahine Masto earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Nevada, Reno.
